The most disgusting thing of my life!

Hey Family!
How are things going for you?
Things are pretty good here.
It's nice and warm here.
Don't worry,
I will enjoy it for all you people
who are freezing to death.
At least you got some snow!
When I was in Taylor it only snowed once.
If it's going to be cold.
I want there to be snow.
Anyways.
Things this week.

Shauna and David.
She is a LA and he is kind of an investigator.
We went to the open house with them!
It was really good!
Shauna loved it.
She was crying while we watched
the intro movie to the tour.
The built a brand new stake center
right next door when they built the temple.

Johnny.
We got to meet with him a couple times.
He has kind of hit a standstill.
We haven't taught him everything yet.
But he is hindering his own progression.
He has to be willing to make that step of faith.
He really wants his children to join too.
But they aren't really interested.
So we'll see if he lets that hold him back.
He's been pretty sick.
Just called and said he was in the hospital yesterday,
which is why he didn't make it to church.
We asked to pray about his baptism date.
So hopefully he has a date in mind when
we meet with him on Wednesday.

Robert Soldier.
He is an interesting man.
He told a member yesterday he wants to
get baptized on February 22nd.
So we will see what goes on there.
We have a lesson with him tonight.
So we are excited for that!

Lane family.
They kind of dropped out of the sky.
A sister that used to serve here
referred them to us.
So we stopped by.
He is LA and she's not a member.
She was super open and it was awesome.
We set up a time to come back.
When we came back there was a wall up.
One that wasn't there before.
We think she's having some really hard times with her family.
So whatever is hopefully it will be taken care of soon.
Because she is so ready to be baptized!

This morning.
Sister R and I went to hike this morning.
Originally our zone was supposed to go.
But they bailed out because one elder couldn't go.
So we decided we would leave our
companions behind and go.
It was a blast.

And now.
For the most disgusting thing of my life.
Dinner. Last night.
We went to the house.
And there were cockroaches.
EVERYWHERE.
On the ceiling, floor, walls, counters,
and....
IN THE FOOD WE WERE ABOUT TO EAT.
I almost threw up.
Several times.
I think there was a reason I was sent stateside.
And it's because I was not meant to have
cockroaches in my food.
And we still ate it.
I tried to pick the parts that might not have
had them in it.
We talked to the mission president's wife.
She said that we are to never eat there again.
The poor man.
You could tell he felt bad.
He had his wife with dementia
he was trying to take care of.
It was sad.
I think we are going to write him a thank you note.
So he will know we appreciated it.

All in all, the missionary work is going great here!
I love you all and appreciate everything you do for me!
Have a great week!

LOVE YOU!

20 January 2014

Hey Family!
How are things going?
How cold is it there?
If it's cold don't worry,
I'll soak up the sun for you!
It is really nice being in 70's everyday.
Not rubbing it in or anything:)
Watch it now,
I will head back up
to the mountains next month.

Things are great here!
I am loving the area.
It is an interesting area.
We cover part of Scottsdale,
but we're mostly over Tempe.
I like it a lot.
It's crazy how close I am to Holly though!

I forgot to tell you,
a couple weeks ago now,
I spoke in church!
It was good.
I found out just a couple days before.
Sister R and I both got to speak.
You know me,
I talked a million miles a minute.
I get so nervous giving talks.
You think like 15 years of doing it
would make it easier.
Nope. Not even a little bit.
It went okay though.

This week we went to the Gilbert Open House!
It was pretty amazing!
The chandelier was as big as a refrigerator!
HUGE!
It was seriously a beautiful building.
We got to go with Johnny.
We are hoping this will be a good turning point for him.
Fingers crossed and prayers going up!
He is so prepared.
He just struggles a little bit.

I went on a ton of exchanges this week.
Well it was really only 2,
but it sure felt like a lot.
It was fun though.
I got to go to the ward where Roya lives!
She goes to Larkspur, but lives there.
So I got a picture with her!
And she gave us coffee flavored candy....
I hope it was coffee flavored.
Or I may be a little worried about her.
All I know is I took one bite and hid it in
my cheek like a chipmunk.
And spit it out when we left.
In a dignified way, don't worry.
That's right, I make spitting dignified.

If you could say some prayers,
Lisa Walker could use them.
She has some how turned away from the church.
Apparently she wants nothing from the church.
But she said she would talk to me and Sister Lewis.
So I am going to write her today.
But she needs LOTS of prayers.
I am so glad my old MTC companion
is in my old area, so I could know that!
It's so sad to see people who have such faith struggle.

On a brighter note!
We get to go to the Open House again this week!
I am really excited!
It's going to be great!
And hopefully the person driving us,
won't almost kill us like last time.
He was 84...
I fell asleep so I wouldn't have to see
all the times I almost would die.
Sister Fisher said it was probably
at least 7 near death calls.
The Lord is definitely watching out for us
is all I have to say!
Thanks for all those extra prayers!
I could definitely feel them that day!

Well I love you all so much!
I hope you have a great week!
Tell someone about the gospel this week
and I can promise you that your week will go 70 times better!!
Remember, you have a lifelong call to missionary work!

Much love,
Sister Hubmann

13 January 2014

FAMILIA!
So this week has been a long one!
I can't believe it's pday again already though.
It's strange how it always works like that.

I am loving the warmth!
It really is so much warmer than usual.
So life has been pretty good.
I haven't had to wear a coat, boots, or tights!

Sad news.
Elder Holland cancelled!
I was so sad when I heard it.
But we had a 70 speak and it was great.
I loved his talk.
It has made me realize the things I need to
do and give up to reach my full potential.
E. Wright was his name.
He was a great speaker.
His coworker compared it to
A crowd expecting the Beatles and
the Dixie Chicks showing up.
It was really funny.
And it was the best day ever.
I got to see SO many people from the Mesa mission.
Our whole MTC district was reunited.
Ad I loved it.
I also got to see Sister Gustafson!
Of BYU-Idaho.
So awesome!
I loved that day.

We also had MLC.
I got to see Sister Wynn,
so that makes for a good day.
And we got to discuss the needs of the mission.
We also did some training on the Gilbert Open House.
Did I tell you we get to go to that?
I am going Saturday!

Oh and we got a new investigator this week!
I am a little rusty on street contacts!
But I am getting back into the swing of things!

I am so blessed to be able to serve as a missionary.
I think this is the shortest email I will ever send.
Somehow time just disappeared today.
I don't know how that keeps happening!

I love you all!

A SUNNY DAY IN THE VALLEY!

How is everyone doing today?
I am really excited for this weather
that is happening right now.
I am back down in the valley.
And loving it.
I do miss Taylor already,
but the Lord needed me here.
So I can't dwell on it!
I am going to love this area,
I can feel it.
We are so excited and ready
for the miracles to start happening!

Sister Fisher.
My companion.
She is from Canada.
She's been out about 3 months.
She came out with Sister Evans.
Been in this area her whole mission.

Willis'.
Saying goodbye to them was
the hardest things ever.
Brother Willis has this shirt that says
"I have the body of a God"
and has Buddha on it.
I told him that when I left I wanted
the last picture I took with him
to be him wearing that shirt.
And he wasn't wearing it....
because he GAVE IT TO ME!
Seriously. I almost cried.
It's his favorite shirt.
And he gave it to me.
I've worn it a thousand times already.
It swallows me whole,
but I'm okay with it.

Andy.
He walked into church.
And stayed for all 3 hours!
We went and taught him the first 2 lessons.
And invited him to baptism!
And he accepted.
Golden, I tell you.
And I got transferred,
but they are going to do great with him!

Monday.
Crazy day.
I was in the middle of packing.
And trying to visit people.
And packing some more.
It was a pretty crazy day.
I finally got packed though!
I got to stay at Sister Wynn's house too.
Which made everything worth it.
For sure.
Sister Rasmussen and I came down together.
We left our companions up in the mountains
and sent their new ones up with the car.
It was a really fun ride down.
I love her.
And guess what??
We still live together!
We cover the same ward.
She covers the bike half and I cover the car half.
I was hoping to be on bike.
But we bike sometimes.
So I have that new bike bell on!
Don't yall worry about that.
It is on and going to be in use tomorrow morning.

Cornado seems great!
I am excited to serve here.
It is going to be interesting for sure.
But I love it.
Missions are a party,
that's for sure.
Don't worry, we get work done too!
Not just a big girls' camp mom;)

Life is great here!
And everyone is constantly reminding me
that I don't have tons of time left.
It kind of makes me hate them for a second.
But then I realize,
everything has to end sometime, right?
So I am making the best of the time I have!

I love yall!
And I hope you have a great week!

Much love,
Sister Hubmann
